MUSIC IS.... about change. The blues, rock, disco, metal, punk, jazz, new
wave, hip-hop, dance, trance, house, garage, country, americana, urban, etc.
These names we give to change, and in music you either change or you get
left behind. Unfortunately the music sometimes gets hijacked and distorted
for personal gain. There are times when the entire industry holds the music
hostage by pumping out more and more commercially driven clones. There are
times when we wonder if the music will ever struggle free. The truth is this.
In the end, music always wins and those who stand in the way of music
always lose. Give us, LMIA, your pigeonholed, your unpromoted, your
unsigned, your undiscovered, your struggling artists yearning to be heard
and let us help them to be heard. Live music has an energy that can't be
pressed into wax, burned into plastic, or recorded on tape. It is soulful,
spontaneous, and is totally unpredictable. Attributes that might be
considered liabilities in the corporate world of today. Some would have you
believe that live music is dead, but that is where they are wrong. It is very
alive and that is what LMIA wants to show Louisville and the rest of the
country. That we, the musicians, are here and want to be heard. Take your
time to go out and support live music and enjoy the utter high you get from
hearing and seeing a live performance. Come to one of our showcases or visit
one of our artists pages to see what live, original music is all about.
Help us to put Louisville Original Music on the map. Join LMIA today and
be a part. ...Lesa Seibert, Executive Dir., LMIA
