Rob Nickerson - Robert Nickerson is a recent graduate of the University of Louisville. His studies at the
university have earned him the Master of Music Degree in Performance with a Concentration in Jazz Studies.
He completed the Bachelor of Arts Degree, with Honors, from Alabama State University.
A versatile musician, Robert Nickerson is a saxophonist, composer, and arranger. He has shared the stage
with noted musicians, such as: Terrell Stafford, Terry Lynn Carrington, John Fedchock, Jerry Coker, Phil Woods,
Curtis Fuller, Denis Diblasio, Kenny Werner, Joe La Barbara, Jimmy Heath, and Lew Soloff.
n 1997 he was awarded the Alabama Jazz and Blues Federation Jazz Scholarship and was the recipient of the
Louis Armstrong Award in 1999.
Mr. Nickerson currently works as a freelance musician in the Louisville, KY area. He has a variety of diverse
groups that perform at many different venues throughout the Tri-State area and have made television and radio
appearances.
Mr. Nickerson is a member of the International Association of Jazz Educators, Music Educators National Conference,
American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Professional Music Fraternity
of America.
